One of the high points of going to events these days is not so much about the event itself, but to see the power of creativity in Liberian Fashion designers through the Outfit people wear and the Celebrities showcase on the red carpet. Honestly, Liberian Fashion designers are good enough to match up with the level of work that’s being done in other countries with awesome Fashion output because now we can boast of Fashion designers who understand the game.
Now that we have a growing Fashion Industry that we are proud of, am kind of surprise by the attitude of some Liberian Celebrities towards the nature in which most of our Liberian Fashion designers handle their business. The other day rickslyn myers went hot on fashion designers on Social media, while Karishma De Queen backed her heavily.
“Dear local designers, if I pay for your
clothes that I’m wearing to an
event, you’re not getting a shoutout!
And you bet not post my pictures
after the event if I don’t give you the right to!
That’s my clothes I PAID YOU TO MAKE!!!!臘♀️路♀️” – Rickslyn Myers “. I feel what Rickslyn and Karishma need to understand is that paying for an outfit doesn’t me that you’ve bought the right of the Fashion designer to promote his hardwork in any form that he or she wants it.
I am starting to think that when Rickslyn or Karishma buys outfits made by foreign names like Channel or Gucci they tend to tear up or cover up wherever the designer placed his or her logo because they paid for it and the designer has no right to just display his logo on the Outfit like that. Please let’s understand that most of these big names in the fashion industry like Channel, Gucci, Ralph Lauren didn’t get up there without Celebrities promoting them, Great rappers like Diddy, Rick Ross and so on boasting about buying from these fashion designers in their songs and so on.
I understand that they are moments that free clothes are given to you as a Celebrity to wear at events for the purpose of selling the name of the brand so your fans can purchase. But one thing Rickslyn and Karishma shouldn’t forget is that the Fashion Industry here is still growing and the country is at a very terrible state economically, so we can’t be too harsh on these Liberian designers for being straight to business. Am sure in the nearest future everything will change and Celebrities will be wearing free clothes because we have a good economy and the fact that fans will be financially capable of purchasing an outfit because they saw it on Rickslyn or Karishma.
