A Liberian entrepreneur and popular Disc Jockey, Bernard Benson, is calling on the Legislature to pass a law for the establishment of a public library for students in the country.
Benson, popularly known as DJ Blue, is disappointed that Africa’s oldest republic is without a public library.
“It is frustrating for country like Liberia to not have a public library and our lawmakers are sitting and doing nothing about it, we need programs for kids after school to participate in and avoid the selling on the streets,” he noted.
He is calling on the legislature to make laws that would mandate the executive to implement the construction of a public library, which according to him will create amicable environment for learning.
He expressed disappointment in the current legislators for ignoring public learning or research by constructing a library for its citizens.
Benson is amongst several others that have expressed interest in contesting for the Montserrado County senatorial seat in this year’s upcoming bi-election.
DJ Blue, who is also the owner of Hot FM and Hot TV, is advocating for the establishment of a recreation centers for Liberians youths.
He noted that many kids linger in the streets of Monrovia due to “lack of program to keep kids busy”.
The Liberian entertainer said it is his hope to push for the establishment of a public library and for the improvement of the tourism and arts, cultural sector of Liberia.
“Team Blue seeks to offer a vibrant program for cultural, artistic and educational events to provide visitors with a unique cultural experience on Liberia, we are prepared to give our people attention through education by the construction of the library,” he noted.
He said cultural tourism gives visitors the opportunity to invest .
